  • Narrow, short beach. Entry from grid reference is sandy and shallow for about 100m.

  • Lots of parking within PalaceRigg Country Park, then a slightly undulating 1km walk to lochside.

  • Relatively safe open water swimming location. Vunerable to the usual hazards in Scotland; could be algae in summer and likely to be very cold in winter. Potentially remote from emergnecy services.

  • Water quality is not formally monitored - may be affected by agricutural run-off after rain.

  • Good for people transitioning from pool to water but would need to be able to walk to the entry point of loch.
