Stanely Reservoir

Small reservoir in Paisley originally constructed to serve the water supply of Paisley town in the 19th century, however is not used for public water supply now and is a popular location for water-sports and recreation.

  • Grassy Banks and concrete slip-ways. 

  • Short walk from small car park.No formal path and there is some uneven terrain and will be muddy after rainfall.

  • Doesn't have strong currents. Underwater rocks and depth can vary sharply. Go with a companian as not much foot-fall.

  • Water quality is not formally monitored - may be affected by agricutural run-off after rain, algae blooms in summer and will be cold in winter.

  • Experienced swimmers and those who like cold-water swimming. Amazingly tranquil and scenic given its urban setting.
